NEW PARTNERSHIP BLOSSOMS BETWEEN NATIONAL FESTIVAL OF GARDENING AND SCAA

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) is delighted to have been selected as Gardening Scotland’s new charity partner for 2018.

Every year the three-day national festival of gardening works with one charity to raise funds and awareness for a good cause and this year that charity is SCAA.

SCAA is Scotland’s only air ambulance.  Since it was established in 2013 it has attended more than 1,660 emergencies, providing expert paramedic assistance wherever it is needed - from road collisions, industrial accidents and sporting incidents, to stroke and heart attack victims.

The charity-funded air ambulance operates across the entire country, including the islands, helping patients in remote countryside or in built-up areas where there are congested roads, to reach hospital in a fraction of the time it would take a road ambulance.  SCAA works in partnership with the Scottish Ambulance Service, but it is funded entirely by donations and every year its supporters need to raise more than £2 million to keep it in the air.

Martin Dare, organiser, Gardening Scotland, says: “Amongst the 35,000 visitors who come to the show every year there are bound to be some who are already grateful for the services of Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance or who will have reason to be thankful for it in the future.

“It’s for that reason that we are delighted to welcome SCAA to Gardening Scotland in order to help raise funds and awareness of this brilliant cause.”

David Craig, Chief Executive of SCAA, said everyone at the unique Scottish charity was thrilled to be selected as Gardening Scotland’s charity partner for 2018.

“Gardening Scotland is the country’s leading celebration of all things horticultural - drawing enthusiasts from all over Scotland and beyond - and it is a great privilege and pleasure to be associated with the festival,” he said.

“The fundraising efforts of organisers and visitors at this prestigious event will help to save lives and we can’t thank them enough for their support throughout 2018.”

Gardening Scotland 2018 will take place from Friday, 1 June until Sunday, 3 June at the Royal Highland Centre Edinburgh.
