Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) is thrilled to announce a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for two lucky supporters to take off with us on a special inaugural flight of our brand-new helicopter.
Make history with SCAA
We're providing two seats onboard the first flight of our new Airbus H145 D3 helicopter scheduled for September 24, 2025, at our Aberdeen base as part of Operation Skyward. This operational upgrade was only made possible because of the people of Scotland. To celebrate this spirit of generosity, we want to offer you the chance to experience this rare opportunity. The chance to glimpse what it is like for our paramedics and pilots every day and to see firsthand the life-saving benefits this aircraft will offer the Scottish public.
This new helicopter represents the most significant investment in SCAA's operations in our 12-year history. But this is more than just a ride in a helicopter, this flight represents a landmark moment in SCAA’s history, and by stepping on board you will have played your own special part in making Operation Skyward a success.

Why is the new helicopter available for this flight?
For the month of September, thanks to the support of our aviation partner, Babcock Mission Critical Services Onshore, SCAA has the opportunity to showcase the new helicopter to the people of Scotland through a variety of activities around the country. This will take place alongside training our crew will undertake on the new air ambulance prior to it going live in October. Our existing Aberdeen aircraft will remain fully crewed and online while all of this activity takes place, ensuring no one in Scotland dies because help can't get there in time.
