Make Your Mark FAQs

• Can I add a name using donations I have made in the past?

  Any donation must be a new donation; unfortunately, we cannot add names concerning any donations previously made to SCAA. Entries of a name and/or donations made to the Make Your Mark campaign are not transferable to any other SCAA campaign. Likewise, donations made to other SCAA campaigns are not transferable to the Make Your Mark campaign.

• Can I add more than one name to the helicopter?

  Of course! We just ask that you make the minimum donation amount for each name. This is one full individual name (first name / surname) for a £40 donation, or a community group or organisation name for a £200 donation.

• Can I change the name that I've submitted?

  We will confirm the name submitted by you on a number of occasions in the lead up to the decal being finalised. If you would like to change the name at any stage of the process, please contact the office on 0300 123 1111 or enquiries@scaa.org.uk by October 31 2025. 

• Can I donate more than £40 per name?

  Of course! Every additional donation will help to fund the additional £2 million in operational costs we need to raise in support of the new helicopter. 

• How and when can I see the new decal on the helicopter?

  We will share with you updates via email of the decal production as this progresses as well as the finished product once applied to the helicopter. We will be able to supply a digital version of the decal for you to find your name and intend to have a printed replica for viewing at our bases.  

• How do I get my name on the new SCAA helicopter?

  As part of Operation Skyward and the launch of our new helicopter, we are offering supporters the opportunity to get your name, or that of a loved one, on a special map of Scotland decal on the belly of the helicopter for a £40 donation. Submit the name you'd like to go on the helicopter alongside your donation. Your name will then be printed alongside other supporters within the map of Scotland decal which will then be applied to the belly of our new helicopter. 

• How long will my name be on the helicopters?

  Your name will be on the helicopter for a minimum of 12 months from the date of install - we will communicate this with you once installed. 

• How will the names be displayed on the helicopter?

  All names will be placed within a special map of Scotland decal that will be printed and installed on the belly (underside) of our new H145 helicopter. Each name will appear once within the decal. The names will be in lowercase, with a capital for the first letter of each part of the name.
  
  

• If I submit more than one name, will they appear next to each other in the decal?

  The application of the decal is a complex task and due to the nature of this, we can not guarantee that names will appear next to each other. We will try our best to accommodate this if requested.

• What can and can't I include in my name submission?

  We can accept:
  One person per name – e.g John Smith (if you would like to add more than one name, please complete another donation with additional details)
  A maximum of 30 characters per name (including spaces and punctuation).
  First and second names (e.g., John Smith).
  Titles (e.g., Dr, Lady) and post-nominals (e.g., CBE, MD).
  Nicknames or informal names (e.g., Freddie, Sam) – aka cannot be included.
  Group and organisation names will be accepted alongside a £200 donation
  Hyphens and apostrophes are allowed, but other special characters and accents are not.

  We cannot accept:
  Names that include special characters or accents, except hyphens and apostrophes (e.g. John Smith!).
  Joint names (e.g., The Smiths or John and Joan Smith).
  Additional information like numbers or locations.
  Discriminatory or offensive language, or names used for political or corporate promotion.
  Unidentifiable or fictional individuals.

• What is the minimum donation amount for this campaign?

  The minimum donation amount is £40 for each name added to our new helicopter. Groups and organisations can make a donation of £200 to have their name listed alongside thousands of other supporters. 

• When will my name appear on the helicopters?

  We anticipate applying the new decal with your name on it to the helicopter in early 2026. We will share updates of this with you via email as well as a high resolution image of the finished product so you can find your name! 

• Who can I dedicate a name to?

  You can dedicate a name to anyone – yourself, a loved one, a friend, or in memory of someone special. 

• Will I receive a certificate?

  We will post your certificate with your nominated name out to you within 2 weeks of you making your donation. If you have not received this within 3 weeks, please email enquiries@scaa.org.uk stating your name and the name you have submitted to be featured on the helicopter.
