SCAA's 100 Miles in October 2025 challenge officially the charity's most successful

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance’s (SCAA) 100 Miles in October 2025 challenge marks our most successful virtual challenge to-date.

Around 900 participants signed up to our challenge from all across Scotland, with just under 400 collectively fundraising an incredible £129,262. These donations combined with those who declared gift aid raises the accumulative challenge total to just below £155k for our life-saving charity.

The monumental sum raised will undoubtably have a significant impact on our frontline service and will help us continue to work towards our ambition that no one in Scotland dies because help can’t get there in time.

The challenge Facebook group became a hive of motivation and was packed with inspiring stories from fundraisers throughout the month.

We had people of all ages waking, running, cycling, completing their miles on horseback, hiking up Munros, we even had someone daring to do their miles barefoot!

The Facebook group was quickly established as a platform to share progress, motivation, fundraising updates, and inspiring stories.

Within the group, we heard from people all across the country. Some were past patients or knew a loved one who had benefited from our air ambulance service, we had people recovering from illness who admitted the challenge gave them the motivation they needed, we seen emotional tales of those who had lost loved ones and wished to complete the challenge as a tribute.

This is the fourth year the charity has promoted our 100 Miles in October challenge, and as a result we have seen a steady incline in supporters taking part.

Hundreds of participants donned their teal-coloured challenge t-shirts this year to get out, clock up their miles, and help raise awareness for SCAA. No matter the weather, our challenge supporters accomplished their 100 miles in rapid succession.

Motivation for taking on the challenge ranged from those wanting to raise money for SCAA, improve personal fitness levels, to have something positive to focus on, and to give back for help they or a family member/ friend received from SCAA.

Survey feedback from participants included messages of personal achievement and support for the charity. When asked what they enjoyed most about the challenge, participants responded with; ‘It was well organised and left me with a sense of achievement’, ‘raising money for a great cause’, and ‘good excuse to get out in October and really enjoyed the reports on the FB page by other participants’.
