7 ways you can support SCAA without making a donation

Here at Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance, we are acutely aware that many Scots are facing a cost-of-living crisis and that disposable income is a luxury and not a guarantee for many households.

If you wish to support our life-saving charity but feel you don’t have the means to contribute financially to our service, there are other valuable ways you can help make a difference.

Here are just seven ideas…

BE OUR CHEERLEADERS ONLINE

Following and sharing our posts on social media is a great way to help us engage and reach more people. You can find SCAA on Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and TikTok. Following, liking, commenting, or sharing posts is an effective, free way to support the charity and help us raise crucial awareness to reach new audiences. On these channels you will finds lots of crew, operational updates, mission posts, fundraising news, behind the scenes videos, and event news.

JOIN OUR ARMY OF VOLUNTEERS

We love our volunteers. The charity simply would not function without their dedicated help. The great thing about volunteering with the charity is that you can do so as much or as little as you are able. Whether you want to get involved with SCAA events, giving talks, organising collection cans, admin support, or bucket collections, there are a host of roles to suit all abilities. Your support in this way helps the charity function and to reach all corners of the country.

DARE TO TAKE ON A FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE

Throw yourself into a fundraising event and take on a challenge this year. There are plenty of fantastic events for you to get involved in, including the charity’s biggest ever event – the SCAA Stadium Takeover at Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday, 16 May. Abseil from the roof into the stadium below or conquer the stairclimb challenge around the stands for a real test of endurance. Make yourself proud by completing a challenge, fundraising for our life-saving service, and creating lasting memories in the process. You can view all our upcoming events here:

BECOME A WALKING MANNEQUIN

If you own pieces from our range of SCAA merchandise, we hope you wear them with pride. Displaying any of our merch makes you our very own walking advert. You help us raise awareness by wearing or using anything featuring our SCAA logo. Whether it’s a beanie, flask, mug, bag, hoodie, or even a dog collar for your pet – each item makes a difference in spreading the word about our frontline service in your community. SCAA serves the whole of Scotland and wearing or using some of our merch helps us reach more corners of the country.

SIGN YOUR GROUP UP TO A FREE SCAA TALK

If you are part of a community group, whether rotary, scouts, knitting, book club, village hall committee, or whatever social group you belong to why not consider signing up for a free SCAA talk at your next meeting. Delivered by our team of expert volunteers or community fundraisers, our talks programme showcases our service in a direct and personal way. Talks can be tailored to suit your group, with time to ask any questions about SCAA. You will learn key stats, hear from former patients, and discover exactly why our service is so vital for the people of Scotland.

THROW A PARTY AND DON’T ASK FOR PRESENTS

Host a birthday fundraiser on Facebook for SCAA. Instead of asking for gifts this year, set up a Facebook birthday fundraiser and ask your friends and family to support. It couldn’t be easier to set this up, simply follow the link below to get started. You can decide when this fundraiser closes and as Facebook covers all processing fees, 100% of donations will be automatically transferred to SCAA. To set up a page, tap:

LEAVE A LASTING LEGACY

Protect your community after you’re gone by choosing to leave a gift in your Will to SCAA. Leaving a gift in this way costs nothing during your lifetime yet it will make a lasting impact. It will contribute to more lives being saved in the future. By deciding to support the charity in this way, you’re allowing us to plan ahead, making sure our service is as efficient and impactful as possible, secure in the knowledge we’ll have funds in the future. In recognition of each life-saving gift, the names of those remembering SCAA in this special way will be written in our SCAA Legacy Logbook that accompanies our crew on every mission.
