Our life-saving aircraft and vehicles

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance has a helicopter air ambulance fleet consisting of one Airbus Eurocopter 135 aircraft in Perth and one Airbus Eurocopter 145 aircraft in Aberdeen. Each of these life-saving aircraft and their crews stand ready to respond 365 days a year.

From our bases in Perth and Aberdeen, our crew can reach patients across the country before rapidly transporting them to the most appropriate hospital, even if it isn't the closest option.

Our experienced pilots are granted the right, by the Civil Aviation Authority, to land anywhere they deem safe whilst on a HEMS call. A safe landing requires a clear space of around 25m in daylight, which is roughly equivalent to a tennis court.

We also have a fully equipped Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV) at each base ready to respond to emergencies in the surrounding area.
