Free tickets released as Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance prepares to touch down at Murrayfield

All roads lead to Murrayfield on Saturday, May 16th, as Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) touches down for its biggest ever participation event.

Hundreds will be taking part in a challenging abseil and/or stair climb to raise funds to keep SCAA’s life-saving service in the air.

And the charity is throwing the doors open to others to join in the fun-filled festivities, meet the helicopter crews and learn more about the service that saves and improves thousands of lives across Scotland.

Free tickets are available for families and individuals not taking part in the fundraising challenges to attend SCAA’s first ever Stadium Takeover between 10am and 2pm, which will allow escorted groups access to the Scottish Gas Murrayfield to see the adrenaline fuelled activities taking place.

They will then be escorted outside to get up close and personal with one of the charity’s helicopter air ambulances, meet the crew and see the kit that helps deliver rapid response emergency care to those most seriously ill or injured.

SCAA events officer Caryn Whitelaw said the unique day would feature something for everyone.

“Those attending can also enjoy the many stalls, sideshows and food stands and chat to charity staff and volunteers who help drive SCAA’s ambition to ensure that no one in Scotland dies because help can’t get there in time,” she said.

“This will be a unique event for the home of Scottish Rugby – just for a day it will be the home of people keen to support the country’s only charity-funded air ambulance service.”

SCAA operates two helicopter air ambulances and two rapid response vehicles from bases at Perth and Aberdeen airports. The 13-year-old charity is funded entirely by public donation, raising just over £40 million in the last five years.

“Our donors and fundraisers are the lifeblood of SCAA,” stressed Caryn, “and we’re thrilled and hugely grateful that so many have signed up to challenge themselves at Murrayfield and support our service.

“Their thrill-seeking efforts on the abseil and stair climb will save lives and other members of the public are invited to come and cheer them on and learn more about a charity which exists to help those most in need.”

Free tickets for the family fun day are limited and can be secured by registering at:

Those attending can travel to the event by Edinburgh Trams, where SCAA’s Stadium Takeover has featured in an onboard advertising campaign.
