Mission Review

SCAA was quickly on scene to help a motorcyclist injured in an accident near Kirriemuir. SCAA paramedics worked alongside Scottish Ambulance Service colleagues and Police Scotland before the injured rider was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

A walker injured in a recent fall on Mull was flown to mainland hospital care in Glasgow by SCAA in under 40 minutes. SCAA worked with colleagues from HM Coastguard, Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland at the accident scene before airlifting the injured woman to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

SCAA’s air ambulance helicopter was the only transport able to get close to the scene of a recent glider crash on the Lomond Hills. The glider had crashed into the hillside above Scotlandwell and SCAA was able to land close to the accident site, allowing emergency services to extract the injured pilot from the wreckage and have him airlifted to the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh. SCAA worked alongside mountain rescue teams, Scottish Ambulance Service colleagues and other first responders to treat and transport the patient.

A man recently injured in a quad bike accident on remote farmland near Loch Lee in Angus was in the Major Trauma Centre in Dundee 20 minutes after SCAA airlifted him from the scene. SCAA was able to land on a dirt track close to the accident, allowing paramedics rapid access to the injured man and a speedy extraction to vital hospital care.

SCAA recently worked alongside colleagues from Lomond Mountain Rescue Team when a teenager fell on Conic Hill above Balmaha, injuring his leg. Our helicopter air ambulance was able to land on flat ground below the injured walker, providing SCAA’s paramedics easy access to the accident scene. Members of the mountain rescue team then stretchered the patient to the aircraft and he was flown to Major Trauma Centre care in Glasgow.
