Mission Review

SCAA was returning to base from a job in Wick when the crew – including a specialist doctor-led team - was diverted to a medical emergency involving a young boy in Banff. After treatment at the scene, the boy was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, accompanied by the Emergency Medical Retrieval Service team.

SCAA made the long flight to Kirkwall recently to airlift a little girl requiring urgent specialist care at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The youngster was able to be accompanied by her mother, and a SCAA teddy bear provided additional comfort during the hour-long flight to hospital care.

SCAA faced challenging weather as it flew a specialist doctor-led team to the scene of a road traffic collision near Elgin recently. Our helicopter air ambulance was able to drop the advanced medical team at the scene, ensuring those injured had the best possible pre-hospital care.

A little girl recently injured in a road traffic collision near Fraserburgh was airlifted by SCAA, accompanied by her dad, and flown to trauma care at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in just 16 minutes – a journey that would take nearly an hour by road. Extra comfort was provided by a SCAA teddy bear.

SCAA was the first medical resource to reach those injured in an accident involving a car and a school bus near Tarland. Our helicopter landed in a field next to the collision before SCAA paramedics triaged and assessed 10 casualties with minor injuries – including occupants of the car and pupils from the bus. Those requiring further treatment were taken by road ambulance to hospital care in Aberdeen.

A man sustained serious injuries after falling from a telegraph pole at a remote location near Huntly recently. SCAA was first on scene at the rural location, airlifting a doctor-led medical team to the patient. SCAA’s crew worked alongside colleagues from Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service before the injured man was airlifted major trauma centre care at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in just 20 minutes.
