Mission Review

Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance responds to time-critical emergencies wherever they occur in Scotland. Our air ambulance helicopters travel to every corner of Scotland to help those ill or injured - providing a vital lifeline to communities all over the country. Here are just a few of the call outs we've responded to recently.

SCAA's Helimed 79 air ambulance made the long flight to the Outer Hebrides recently when a patient on Benbecula required an urgent transfer to mainland hospital care. The patient was safely airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow within an hour.

SCAA flew to three of Scotland's islands in one day recently, airlifting three patients to essential mainland hospital care. A flight to Islay for the urgent transfer of a patient to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow was followed by a call to Mull to airlift a patient to Oban's Lorn and Islands Hospital. The third call of the day took the crew to Arran and an onward flight with a patient to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.

SCAA paramedics recently worked with Scottish Ambulance Service road crew colleagues at the scene of a trail bike accident in Fife. The injured rider, who sustained a serious leg injury, was then taken the short journey by road to hospital, freeing our air ambulance up for its next emergency.

SCAA's Helimed 76 air ambulance landed on a golf course in Aberfoyle recently to help a golfer injured when she slipped and fell. Our helicopter air ambulance landed on a nearby fairway and airlifted the patient to the Major Trauma Centre at Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for specialist treatment.

A teenager was recently airlifted to hospital by SCAA after sustaining serious injuries in a fall from her horse on St Andrews beach. Our air ambulance helicopter landed on the beach near the injured rider and then airlifted her to advanced care at Dundee's Major Trauma Centre at Ninewells Hospital.

SCAA paramedics recently flew to the aid of a horse rider injured in a fall in a field near Turriff. The woman was then taken by road to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with arm injuries, freeing our helicopter crew for its next emergency.
