SCAA marks National Air Ambulance Week 2019

Scotland's only charity-funded helicopter air ambulance joined air ambulance charities throughout the UK to celebrate National Air Ambulance Week from September 9-15.

To mark the event, SCAA’s staff, crew and volunteers have got together to pay tribute to the support that keeps us flying, all provided by the people of Scotland.

SCAA, now in its seventh year of operation, has now responded to more than 2,200 time-critical emergencies across the whole of Scotland, operating as part of the nation's 999 emergency response network.

While unique in Scotland, SCAA is one of 21 charities operating helicopter air ambulances throughout the UK - funded entirely by public donations.

Throughout the country, an air ambulance helicopter is deployed every 10 minutes - taking expert care to the patient, with the ability to airlift them to hospital for treatment.
