Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance is the Pride of Scotland

Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) was delighted to pick up the Pride of Scotland's Emergency Services award at a ceremony in Edinburgh. SCAA paramedics John Pritchard and Rich Garside were in attendance to accept the award on behalf of the charity and its supporters.

For 10 years, SCAA has played a vital role in Scotland’s emergency response network, getting paramedics and specialist teams quickly to the scene of serious illness and injury. Since launching in 2013, SCAA has responded to almost 5,000 life-saving missions across Scotland, providing a crucial lifeline to people and communities all over the country.

Commenting on the award, SCAA CEO David Craig said the Pride of Scotland award recognised the efforts of everyone involved with the life-saving service throughout its first decade.

“In 10 years, we have responded to almost 5,000 call outs, flying critical care to those most seriously ill or injured and airlifting patients speedily to definitive hospital care,” he said.

“Our outstanding crews have saved thousands of lives and impacted on many more all across Scotland.

“None of this would have been possible without the generosity of the public, donating over £50 million to ensure we are there for those who need us most.

“This award goes to everyone who has played a part in supporting and delivering what is now one of the most respected and best-known charities in Scotland – especially our amazing crew of paramedics and pilots.

“We call ourselves The People’s Helicopter – funded by the people of Scotland for the people of Scotland. Now we have been recognised as ‘The Pride of Scotland’ which is just fantastic. We’re hugely honoured, very humbled and absolutely thrilled.”
